IN-DEPTH

The asphalt (bitumen) external coating is a traditional coating, one of the first anti-corrosion protection systems used for coating steel pipes and is extremely valid still today and technically appreciated solution by professionals, both for its relatively low cost and for its durability over time, appreciated in laying conditions suitably and scrupulously carried out according to the provisions of the relevant standards.
For the transport of gas, only the external coating is applied and the butt-end are beveled from 3” (88.9 mm over).
For the transport of water, pipes are asphalt coated and lined and butt-ends are normally spigotted. Our internal bituminous coating, being made by hot immersion in oxidized bitumen, and not by cold application (thus avoiding using polluting solvents), allows us to certify that our products are suitable drinking water according to the Italian Health Ministry Decree No. 174 dated 06.04.04.
